Souvik Pyne is a youth advocate on sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially safe abortion. He is a public health graduate from Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS), Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum. He also has a degree in dentistry from Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College & Hospital, Kolkata. He did his Masters dissertation on abortion services in West Bengal and received a DAAD scholalrship for an internship in Bielefeld, Germany. He went to the 8th Asian Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights (APCRSHR) as a youth school from India. He is a youth champion and internee of the Asia Safe Abortion Partnership; member of the Youth Advisory Group on abortion stigma of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and one of the observers to the steering committee of CommonHealth. He has experience in undertaking quantitative and qualitative research, programme management, training and facilitation, event organisation and blog writing.
Before joining TYPF, Souvik worked with the Indian Institute of Public Health - Bhubaneswar (IIPHB) and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI)
