The Access Project Closing Event

TYPF started The Access Project in Delhi and Varanasi in 2015. We partnered with Action India in Delhi and Asian Bridge India in Varanasi to conduct youth-led audits to assess the youth-friendliness of health services, like contraceptives, testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections/HIV, Right to Information, etc. in public and private health-care facilities.

On April 4, 2019 the Varanasi leg of TAP culminated with a two-day dialogue on the youth-led research audit. A consultative meeting was conducted on the first day in Kashi Vidyapeeth, where all the youth auditors were from. In addition to sharing findings of the audit, the consultation also focused on generating demands and recommendations on SRHR for the government representatives and concluded with developing a charter of demands with university students and CSOs. On the second day, TYPF and Asian Bridge India led a dialogue with SRH service providers and government officials to present the charter of demands and recommendations of the Access Project.

During the consultation, TAP was joined by representatives from local CSOs such as Lok Samiti, Lok Chetna Samiti, Vatsalaya, and Gramya. Kashi Vidhyapeeth University professors enriched the dialogue, while students of the Department of Social Work performed a street play. SRH service providers including gyaecologists and counsellors, health officials of various programmes such as RCH, NCD,RKSK attended the second day of the consultation.
